Tiger Woods Brings the PGA to Oyster Bay

May 8, 2019

The week-long PGA Championship, scheduled for May 13th through 19th, is one of the biggest events to happen in the area. Gov. Andrew Cuomo said that more than 1,100 full and part-time jobs have already been created by the event, and the economic impact is only expected to grow.

In addition to at least a $120 million economic impact, more than 1,100 full and part-time jobs have already been created as a result of the PGA Championship. Nearly 3,600 volunteers from 45 states and 20 countries will also assist in the overall operations of the event. The PGA Championship will have a massive global footprint, with 200 countries broadcasting the tournament to more than 500 million households, and will be covered by 1,000 on-site media representatives.

“I am thrilled to welcome the storied PGA Championship to Nassau County for the very first time in the tournament’s history,” Nassau County Executive Laura Curran said in a astatement. “The Championship has already brought our region an economic boost of over $100 million, creating over 1,100 jobs full or part-time jobs. Nassau County is ready and in full coordination with state and local partners to ensure the Championship runs smoothly and safely.”
