Huntington Historical Society Apple Festival

October 24, 2019

The Society’s most popular family event, the Apple Festival features a variety of fall festivities including traditional games, seasonal crafts, live music, and historical demonstrations by costumed interpreters.

Visitors dove into history by going on a tour of the 18th century Kissam House, or watched traditional folk artists like woodworkers and musicians demonstrate their craft.

Children  tried their hand at making their own like full-sized scarecrows and painted  pumpkins. There were numerous games, races, bubbles, and face painting, as well as the very popular hayride around the property!

Delicious Long Island-grown apples were sold by the bag along with other fall food favorites, such as candy apples, apple cider, and an assortment of baked goods from local bakeries. And shopping at the Museum Shop with its many treasures, collectibles and antiques was great.

The Order of the Ancient and Honorable Huntington Militia were on hand to give an exciting demonstration firing their muskets, cannon drills and firings. People were able to talk with the men at arms about how they train and what they are preparing for in the future.
