Stalker of 14 Year Old Girl Arrested
George Letellier, 56 of Huntington Station was arrested Thursday for stalking a 14-year-old girl. Suffolk County police said he stalked the teen several times from mid October through early November. He followed her in his gray Jeep Wrangler, making inappropriate remarks to her.
He is accused of invading her personal space and blocked her ability to move away from him. During the fourth interaction the teenager was able to get his license plate which she brought to the police. Suffolk County Police investigated and arrested him. Letellier, of Luyster Street in Huntintington Station, was charged with stalking and endangering the welfare of a child.
According to the government over 7.5 million people are victims of stalking each year in the United States. Approximately 15 percent of women and 6 percent of men are stalking survivors. Teens face a higher risk of being victims of stalking. More than 50 percent of female stalking survivors and 30 percent of male survivors were first victimized prior to the age of 25. Stalking is now illegal in all 50 states. he legal definition of stalking varies by location.
