Blumencranz, Pironi Running for NYS Legislature

The retirement of NYS Senator Jack Martins created a cascading series of vacancies to fill in north shore legislative districts, and the Republicans have "moved-up" Assemblyman Jake Blumencranz (R-Brookville) to take over Martins' NYS Senate nomination.

That created a vacancy for Blumencranz' nomination for NYS Assembly, and local home builder and former Legislature candidate Paolo Pironi was quickly nominated to run for that Assembly seat.

The candidacies of Blumencranz and Pironi represent a generational shift, as both are younger candidates.

Blumencranz, age 29, was elected to the NYS Assembly in 2022, and was re-elected in 2024.

Pironi age 38, ran for the Nassau County Legislature in 2021, losing very narrowly to former County Legislator Joshua Lafazan.  Two years later - after a series of scandals and controversies - Lafazan lost heavily - 42% to 58% - to current Legislator Samantha Goetz (R-Locust Valley).

"I built my career as a small business owner helping people achieve the American Dream of home ownership," stated Pironi. "Now I am prepared to bring that experience to Albany to bring real affordability to our state."
