Brewery Crafts New Beer for Glen Cove Police
by Chris O’Neill Local Glen Cove micro-brewery Noble Savage is brewing a limited-edition Vienna-style lager to be called “Committed to Excellence” in honor of Glen Cove’s men and women in blue. Noble Savage owner and Head Brewer, Frank Bilello, said that since the brewery is located just 200 feet from the Glen Cove police department, he gets to see first hand how the officers support downtown businesses and wanted to give something back. There will be only two barrels of the 5% alcohol beer produced – equal to about 11 kegs or ‘567 pours’, and for every $7 glass sold, $1 will be set aside for the Glen Cove police department, “to use as they see fit,” according to Bilello. “Committed to Excellence” is also the motto of the Glen Cove Police and is a crisp, flavorful, malt-forward beer.” According to Belillo, who announced plans to come out with another brew dedicated to the local fire department for later this year. You can try ‘Committed to Excellence’ - while it lasts - inside Noble Savage’s tasting room on Glen Street starting at 3 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays and 1 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
