Confirm Tulsi Gabbard, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., and Kash Patel
President-elect Donald Trump was wasted no time in nominating the members of his Cabinet, and the heads of major agencies. These nominees must now go before the US Senate for the "advice and consent" of the Senate.
Some nominees are outstanding: Literally among the "best and the brightest" minds and leaders in the world:
Dr. Marty Makary of the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine to head-up the Food & Drug Administration; and Dr. Jay Bhattacharya of Stanford University to head up the National Institutes of Health. Both are brilliant doctors, scientists and policy experts.
Makary and Bhattacharya distinguished themselves during the COVID pandemic by speaking against the increasingly hysteric "anti-scientific" policies - particularly the lockdowns and forced masking of children. Those policies did nothing for public health - and were often very destructive to good health - but advanced a hectoring nanny-state medical fascism. A fascism that became the ideology of so many politicians, media mediocrities, and their staffs.
For speaking "truth to power" both Bhattacharya and Makary were denounced and censored. By our own "enlightened" and "pro-science" government. By social media platforms. And by their own medical profession - that too often contains medical bureaucrats, rather than independent, thinking doctors.
Trump has also nominated some stinkers: Ex-Congressman Matt Gaetz, who was nominated for Attorney General, but who withdrew under a firestorm of criticism about under-age sex and drug parties. Dozens of US senators sounded the alarm: Trump heard it; and the nomination was ended.
Three of Trump's nominees are now being attacked in the media - not for personal flaws or lack of excellent credentials, but based upon raw partisan politics:
Former US Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI) has been nominated to serve as Director of National Intelligence; and Professor Robert F. Kennedy, Jr has been nominated to become Secretary of the Health & Human Services Department. Both were leading Democrats who were blackballed by the Democratic Party leadership and supported Trump in the election. Gabbard is a military veteran and ran for US President - as a Democrat. Kennedy is the son of a US Attorney General and the nephew of President John F Kennedy - and ran for President as a Democrat.
The Democrats' hatred of Gabbard and Kennedy springs from their anger at two Democrats who dared to break with their party. In other words - political sour grapes.
Kash Patel is a Long Islander - who grew-up in Garden City. He served as a federal public Defender; Counter-terrorism Prosecutor with the US Department of Justice; and for Congressman Devin Nunes on the US House Intelligence Committee. Democrats hate him because he conducted the investigation that exposed the illegal wiretapping of Donald Trump's 2016 campaign - and the lies told to the FISA Court to obtain a wiretapping warrant.
That is why all three have a target on their backs. Outstanding nominees - but hated for partisan political reasons.
US Senators - both Republicans and Democrats - should hold fast and confirm all three excellent nominees.
