CSH School Janitor Arrested for Terror Threats

A 57-year-old school janitor at the Cold Spring Harbor School District has been arrested for making terrorist threats of "mass harm" against the CSH schools, after being turned down for a job promotion.
According to Suffolk County police, arrested is Jimmy Martin, age 57, a custodian-janitor at the Cold Spring Harbor School District. Martin, a Huntington resident, had applied for a promotion in the Cold Spring Harbor school district in early December.
However, when Martin was informed that he would not receive the promotion, he spoke to his co-workers and made direct threats of mass harm against the schools on both December 8, 2023, and December 11, 2023.
Martin's comments of threatening mass harm against the schools were promptly reported to school authorities. He was arrested by Suffolk County police on Wednesday, December 13, 2023.
A CSH school administrator was made aware of Martin's threats on Wednesday afternoon, and the administration promptly reported Martin to the police at 5:17PM.
Following an investigation by the Second Precinct, Martin was arrested at his Huntington home at 10:44PM.
According to Suffolk County police, Martin was charged with “Making a Threat of Mass Harm.”
He was held at the Third Precinct overnight, and was arraigned on Thursday, December 14, 2023 before the First District Court in Central Islip.
