Editorial: James Comey Deserves Jail

This newspaper has published many articles blasting "Lawfare" - the political weaponization of law enforcement and the justice system against political opponents.

Under the Biden administration, Lawfare went wild. Over 5,000 Republicans were targeted, arrested, criminally prosecuted, civilly charged, fined, and often bankrupted by a Democratic Party gone berserk.

Engaging in normal election litigation - something that the Publisher, Editor and several reporters of this newspaper have done for the NYS GOP; the NYS Republican Senators; the Huntington GOP; President George Bush, and countless others - became a basis for criminal charges, fines and disbarment.

So when we applaud the arrest and charges against former FBI Director James Comey, it is with some trepidation and a real sadness.

But Comey is a monster - who waged Lawfare for decades - and perverted the due process, fairness and equal justice guarantees of our Constitution - in an endless quest for his own personal power.

Every reader should read the fraudulent 2016 Affidavit filed by Comey with the FISA Court to obtain an illegal warrant to wiretap Donald Trump's campaign. A bundle of lies, material omissions, and false manufactured "facts.".

Every reader should study the 2017 "unannounced visit" by Comey FBI Agents to newly-appointed US National Security Director Mike Flynn, to entrap Flynn, make-up charges, and force him from office. And bankrupt him.

Every reader should understand Comey's scheming to "leak" fake media stories - that he planted - and then use those false "facts" to get warrants and open Grand Juries.   

Every reader should understand how Comey's close friend (from SDNY) Patrick Fitzgerald blackmailed President Barack Obama (after "investigating" Obama's Rezko Chicago land kickback scheme - but then NOT indicting Obama) into appointing Comey as FBI Director.

Every reader should recall Comey's 2003 "trophy hunting" arrest and prosecution of Martha Stewart - a case where Stewart was charged with "making false statements to federal officials" - ironically the very charges that Comey has now been indicted on.

Unlike Comey's numerous political targets like political consultant Roger Stone - who faced a 5AM SWAT police raid (with CNN media on site !) on this home - doors smashed in, furniture destroyed, windows smashed - Comey was given the courtesy of turning himself in quietly and peacefully.

Comey is a monster - someone who targeted and abused people for his own political benefit - even when those people were innocent. His destruction of America's justice system is a national crime.

Comey is charged with two counts of perjury - lying in sworn Testimony before the US Congress. Small charges after a lifetime of crimes and fraud - most of which is unfortunately now time-barred by the statutes of limitations.

We have no sympathy for Mr. Comey: Let justice be done.
