Editorial: Stay the Course on Iran

After two weeks of the American and Israeli military engagement against the Ayatollah regime of the Islamic Republic in Iran, most of the top regime leadership is dead, the Iranian air force, navy and antiaircraft forces are almost completely destroyed, and the Ayatollahs' terror and enforcement thugs - the Revolutionary Guard - are heavily bombed, decapitated and crumbling.
The fall of a murder regime that has killed thousands of Americans and organized terror attacks around the world for the past 47 years should be something every decent person applauds. But a combination of anti-American Islamists and radicals, Chinese and Russian intelligence operatives and bots, and people who simply hate Trump more than they do the Ayatollahs, are mounting a campaign to save the Ayatollahs - and embarrass Trump. They must not succeed.
The survival of the Ayatollah regime would guarantee that China and Russia would rush-in, to re-arm and rebuild an embittered regime Iran as a weapon pointed at America and the democracies of the west. If you want to see death and destruction, just wait for the first Iranian nuclear terrorist bomb in New York City.
Just two months ago, millions of Iranians took to the streets demanding the resignation and overthrow of the Ayatollahs' regime. They were met with brutal force, as the Revolutionary Guards arrested tens of thousands - and then killed - murdered - over 40,000 peaceful protestors.
As one of the Ayatollahs' regime Islamist Judges said when issuing a summary death sentence on a 23 year old protestor, "You are an enemy of God..."
After just two weeks, the Ayatollah regime is down to its last weapons: suicide speedboats, suicide drones and a few missiles hidden in remote farmhouses or caves. Fired not at American or Israeli warships or soldiers, but at civilian cargo ships, tankers, apartment buildings and offices.
To stop the war now - just as the Ayatollah regime is falling - would be a crime against humanity. Like stopping the WW2 invasion of Germany two months before Hitler's death, so he could keep his death camps running and save the Nazi regime.
What is particularly pathetic is that many of those in America shouting most loudly to "stop Trump's war of choice" - and save the Ayatollahs - are the very first people that the Ayatollahs would happily torture, rape and kill: Jewish American liberals who viscerally dislike Trump; self-proclaimed liberal atheists whose disbelief in God is a death penalty offense in the Ayatollahs' Iran; and gay and lesbian activists deeply embedded in the "progressive" left wing of the Democratic Party.
Antisemitic radical Islamists - like New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani and his wife - want America to lose and to bring the "global Intifada" and religious civil war - "Jihad" - to Americans. Pure evil - but thankfully a small minority.
The US Congress has voted - under the War Powers Act - to sustain the Iran war. There is nothing "illegal" about trying to topple an illegal regime that controls 90 million Iranians in a terror grip. Â
The imminent fall of the Ayatollahs promises to restore democracy and freedom to Iran. If that happens, it will be a revolution that will benefit and protect Americans for generations.
To President Trump, the Israeli government, and those US allies supporting us: Please stay the course until the Ayatollahs and their terror thugs flee Iran, surrender, or are dead.
