Two years ago, Republican Congressman Anthony D'Esposito was narrowly defeated by ex-Hempstead Supervisor Laura Gillen, in a close race. 2026 was looking to be a re-match, until President Trump appointed D'Esposito to be the Inspector General of the US Department of Labor.
Jeanine Driscoll, the well-respected Hempstead Receiver of Taxes stood up to run as the Republican nominee, and quickly earned the support of both the Republican and Conservative parties. Her competence, capable management in the Town, and universally-regarded pleasant demeanor all brought her the official endorsement for the nomination.
Driscoll faces a Republican primary from 64-year-old Marvin Williams, a political unknown, whose past dealings with Democrats raises serious questions.
Jeanine Driscoll is a strong, capable candidate for the Republicans to recapture this swing seat.
The Leader endorses Jeanine Driscoll in the Republican primary for US Congress in NY-4.
