Pam Panzenbeck was elected as the Mayor of Glen Cove four years ago, and is now seeking another term.
And what a difference those four years have made to improve Glen Cove: the Garvies Point re-development has been nearly completed; Glen Cove's downtown is seeing real improvements and new businesses; crime is down, with everywhere in Glen Cove feeling safer; Glen Cove property values are climbing upwards; and Glen Cove has posted a historic budget surplus.
Much of this due to the capable leadership of Mayor Pam Panzenbeck and her team.
Panzenbeck is running with incumbent City Council members Grady Farnan, Michael Ktistakis and Kevin Maccarone; and first-time candidates Dan Grabowski, James Greenberg and Ellen Pantazakos.
Marsha Silverman is the Democratic nominee for Mayor. This newspaper has endorsed Silverman in past elections, and we appreciate her sense of civic duty and courage - often having to fight against insiders in her own Democratic Party who have tried to derail her.
There remains much to be done in Glen Cove - particularly regarding the establishment of the long-promised ferry service from Glen Cove to mid-town Manhattan. Mayor Panzenbeck deserves the opportunity to finish the job.
The Leader endorses Mayor Pam Panzenbeck and her running mates for Glen Cove.
