Congressman Tom Suozzi is running for his fifth term representing NY-3.
Suozzi has tried to do something increasingly difficult: be a moderate Democrat in a swing suburban district, in an age dominated by the political extremes, where cross-party centrism often gets you booted "out" in a primary.
Suozzi has consistently supported a moderate path - even serving as a co-founder and co-chair of the bipartisan "Problem Solvers Caucus" in the US House of Representatives.
Like too many moderate officeholders in this age of extremes, Suozzi has sometimes had to bend the knee to local activists and the Democrats congressional leadership.
Suozzi is facing an underfunded political wing-nut - really just a nuisance - in the Democratic primary. Suozzi has earned the Democratic nomination.
