Friends Student Raises $20K for Glen Cove B&G Tennis Clinic

A 16-year-old Friends Academy student from Old Brookville, raised over $20,000.00 to start-up a Tennis Youth Clinic in partnership with the Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club.
Olivia Lichota is a Junior, a varsity tennis player, and a participant in the Entrepreneurship Program and Social Innovators Program at Friends Academy.
The new Tennis Clinic, comprises of twelve children, ages 8 to 12 from the Glen Cove Boys and Girls Club.
The four-week Clinic provides transportation, racquets, equipment , program giveaways, and instruction from coaches at the Robbie Wagner Tournament Training Center.
"I've played tennis for most of my life, and being able to share that passion with the Boys & Girls Club kids has been incredibly meaningful," stated Olivia. "Seeing their excitement every week reminded me that sports are about so much more than winning. They are about building confidence, friendships, and creating opportunities."
“I hope this program not only helps them improve their tennis skills but also inspires them to believe in themselves and experience the joy that comes from learning something new," added Olivia.
“For generations, Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club has inspired young people to discover their potential by providing opportunities to gain experience and explore new interests,” stated a Glen Cove B&G Club spokesperson. “This summer, thanks to the vision and determination of one remarkable young teen, Club members stepped onto the tennis court for the very first time.”
Olivia credits Friends Academy’s Entrepreneurship Program, led by Upper School History teacher, Molly Foresta, and the Social Innovators Program, with inspiring her to think beyond traditional community service and create a sustainable program that addresses a real need.
