Huntington Cinema Arts Center to host "Political Film Festival"

The Cinema Arts Center theater in Huntington is running a four-day film festival about politics and campaigns government that will be moderated by former Congressman Steve Israel.
The film series will run from July 9th trough July 12th, and will feature a different classic movie each night, with commentary and audience discussion from Israel, and his co-hosts former Congressman Peter King and political operative Basil Smikle.
Israel will give the keynote lecture captioned "Campaigning On Celluloid: How Cinema Informs and Reflects Changing Political Communication on Screen"
The film series schedule is:
- "Campaigning on Celluloid: How Cinema Informs and Reflects Changing Political Communication on Screen" a lecture by Steve Israel on Tuesday, July 9th at 7:30PM
- "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington" plus a film discussion with former US Reps Steve Israel & Peter King, on Wednesday, July 10th at 7:00PM
- "The Best Man" plus a film discussion with former US Rep Steve Israel, on Thursday, July 11th at 7:00PM
- "The Candidate" plus a film discussion with former US Rep Steve Israel and Political Consultant Basil Smikle, on Friday July 10th at 7:00PM.
The Political Film Festival promises to showcase some classic movies, together with a keen discussion of cinema portrayals as political fact and fantasy on the big screen.
The Cornell University Institute of Politics and Global Affairs is the sponsor of the Political Film Festival.
