Huntington Holds Saint Patrick’s Parade

For the first time in two years, Huntington’s St Patrick’s Parade marched proudly down Main Street and New York Avenue. Thousands of families thronged the parade route, on a sunny, crisp and brilliant Sunday afternoon.

Huntington witnessed its 88th St. Patrick's Parade. Michael Dowling, the CEO of Northwell Health, served as the Grand Marshal. Dowling paid homage to his Irish roots and honored frontline and healthcare workers.

The last St. Patrick’s Day Parade that occurred on Main Street in Huntington was on March 8th, 2020. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2021 parade was canceled and kept "virtual."

“The way we look at it, the world literally shut down after the parade in 2020,” stated John Broderick, president of the Ancient Order of Hibernians Division 4. “We are going to reopen the world with our parade. We are very excited to get out there and celebrate.”

The St. Patrick’s Day Parade commenced at 2 p.m. and left from the LIRR parking lot near Church Street in Huntington Station. It moved up Route 110, turned west on Main Street, and ended near St. Patrick’s Church in downtown Huntington.
