Liberals Taking Illegal Aliens into Their Own Homes: Really?
By Steve Levy
Liberal sanctuary cities and sanctuary states are going out of their minds, now that illegal aliens are starting to make their way into their jurisdictions.
These far-left elected officials love to virtue signal by bashing southern governors who were objecting over being overwhelmed by hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens pouring into their communities.
So many blue-state and blue-city leaders couldn’t care less about the impact on these other areas, especially if they were a red state such as Texas.
At first, New York’s mayor, Eric Adams, was calling Texas Governor Greg Abbott a "racist" for shipping illegal immigrants off to New York, a sanctuary city.
And why wouldn’t he, since Adams was waving them in, telling them how welcome they were? He even greeted them as they came off the bus.
Florida’s governor, Ron DeSantis, sent illegal aliens up to Martha’s Vineyard and the liberal elitists there went crazy. They couldn’t care for the immigrants, they said, because they "didn’t have the resources."
The uber-wealthy of Martha’s Vineyard saying they didn’t have the resources. The truth is that they couldn’t care less about poor border cities who had far less.
But, now, residents in New York City, Chicago, and elsewhere are starting to see the painful consequences of the sanctuary city policies:
Cops are getting cut; Library hours are being curtailed; Billions in rising deficits and taxes going up.
The liberal governor of Massachusetts is now begging homeowners within her state to take illegal aliens into their homes as "a humanitarian gesture," and to relieve the burden on state taxpayers.
Some will actually take her up on it and we’re sure that, at first, they’ll virtue signal to their neighbors how caring and compassionate they are.
But just wait … something is going to happen months down the line, or maybe next year.
Many of these illegal aliens are going to find out that once they have a foot in someone else’s home, it’s excruciatingly difficult to get them out. They’ll become a holdover or a squatter. And the liberals who took them in — the same liberals who elected the far-left legislatures that protect squatters — will come to learn how crazy the system is.
They will have taken people in out of the goodness of their hearts, only to turn around and find out that they can’t get them out.
That really will be something to watch.
