Locust Valley School Budget Passes - on Re-Vote

The proposed '26-'27 school budget for the Locust Valley School District was approved by the district's voters, after being first rejected in last April's vote.
The Locust Valley School Board has seen a number of controversies this past year, including the resignation of two School Board presidents, the continued targeting of the Locust Valley School District by the administration of Governor Kathy Hochul (D-Buffalo) to force the sharing of children's bathroom and locker room facilities with trans-gender people, and a flurry of letters and charges regarding management of the district.
In the June re-vote over the school budget, 1407 voted "Yes" and 874 voted "No," to passing the budget.
That reversed a vote a month earlier, when the community rejected the budget by a vote of 865 "No" to "765 "Yes."
The rejected budget was for $100.25 million, and the revised budget that passed was for $99.99 million.
The budget includes a tax levy increase of 1.78%, down from 2.10% in the rejected budget.
