Lupinacci, Bontempi Open New Cafe at Heckscher Park Museum

By Chris O'Neill

Huntington Councilwoman Brooke Lupinacci and Suffolk Legislator Stephanie Bontempi were on hand to celebrate the Grand Opening of the new Museum Palette Café at the Heckscher Museum in Heckscher Park.

Part of the promotion of the new Cafe will be "Food Truck Fridays" which will provide food trucks and ice cream trucks to local residents enjoying the playgrounds or a stroll in Heckscher Park.

Lupinacci sponsored the legislation to open the Museum to a Cafe, and Bontempi secured the grant funding to make the Cafe possible.

“The Heckscher Museum, is in the jewel of Huntington, Heckscher Park, and I am proud to have worked with Executive Director Heather Arnet and her staff to cosponsor the Grand Opening of the Museum Palette Café,” stated Lupinacci.

Lupinacci sponsored resolution 2024-385 at the July 9, 2024 Town Board meeting to execute a license agreement with the Heckscher Museum of Art to promote the Café at the Heckscher Museum of Art.

The Councilwoman also sponsored the Resolution to authorize the Town to host "Food Truck Fridays" which licenses local food and ice cream vendors to set-up along the periphery of the park and will promote and provide a variety of foods for the new Cafe.

“Food truck Fridays will run from Friday, August 2, 2024 to Friday, September 27, 2024," stated Lupinacci. "It is not only a wonderful addition for the visitors of the museum or the park, but for the employees and residents of the surrounding area as well."

The café includes seating for up to thirty-six people and a rotating roster of local food trucks providing diverse delicacies to guests each Friday between 12 and 5 pm.

"What could be better than a table at Museum Palette Café, with a scenic view of the park and a wonderful lunch featuring a rotating cuisine.” added Lupinacci.
