Memorial Dedicated to Judge Harry Richard Brown

In a tribute befitting a local legend, dignitaries unveiled a special memorial to the late Judge Harry Richard Brown, at the park named after him in East Northport. Speaking for his entire family, NY Assemblyman Keith Brown (R-Northport), the son of the late Judge, stated "We want to thank the Town of Huntington and the town board and town supervisor for dedicating the ball field and a park after him." "This memorial is to recognize his accomplishments and his career as a public servant and a proud member of the East Northport community." The ceremony began at noon,on Sunday, April 30, 2023, where a memorial to the late Supreme Court Justice was unveiled. Justice Harry Richard Brown began serving on the bench as a District Court Judge in 1974, and later served as a new York Supreme Court Justice from 1980 until his passing in 1993. Justice Brown, known fondly as a “lawyer’s judge” was an outstanding jurist and a pillar of the greater Northport community. The late judge was a 25-year member of the East Northport Fire Department, Emergency Responder, Advance EMT and Larkfield Little League President from 196-1964. Justice Brown founded and served in numerous organizations that remain a benefit to the East Northport community. The ballfield at the Honorable Harry Richard Brown Memorial Park now bears a permanent reminder of the many contributions of Justice Brown, who gave so much to East Northport.
