Pet Bulldog Kidnapped on Thanksgiving in Burglary- Rescued 45 miles Away
by Chris O'Neill
A Huntington family was reunited with their beloved pet bulldog named Stella, after a harrowing three-day burglary kidnapping.
The family, who live on Robin Lane in Huntington, noticed that Stella was missing on Thanksgiving Day, after their house was burglarized. Beside the missing canine, a Sony PlayStation 5 was also taken from the house during the burglary which, according to the police, took place sometime between 4PM and 11PM on Thursday, November 25th.
The owners frantic search of the neighborhood turned up nothing. They then offered a $5000 reward for information on the dog, and to this amount was added $3000 offered by the local company Organic Pest Management Solutions.
Stella was found three days later, 45 miles away, wandering around Rhododendron Drive in Center Moriches. A neighbor, Christine Cohen, recognized the missing dog, and called police. She later took and posted a short video of Stella’s owners happily embracing their recovered pooch.
Stella is safely back at home in Huntington, but on Saturday night, a second French Bulldog, this one only three months old and named Zushi, was also stolen from a Long Island home, this time in Bay Shore.
Zushi has yet to be found. Anyone with information on either of these dog-nappings are asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
