The Portledge School announced that two of its students, Anna Bloch and Holly Simon, were named National Merit Semifinalists in the 2024 National Merit Scholarship Program.
The National Merit Scholarship Program is an academic competition that recognizes and honors the highest-achieving high school students across the United States.
This year, over 1.3 million juniors from approximately 21,000 high schools participated by taking the 2022 PSAT / National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
According to Portledge, Anna and Holly were named as Semifinalists, a designation achieved by fewer than one percent of U.S. high school seniors.
“Anna and Holly demonstrated exceptional academic prowess and achieved the highest scores in their respective states,” stated Portledge in a press statement. “This is a testament to their dedication, hard work, and commitment to academic excellence throughout their high school journey.”
