Robert and Stephanie Bontempi Named "People of the Year"

By Niall Fitzgerald

A prominent Huntington couple - County Legislator Stephanie Bontempi and her husband Robert Bontempi - have been named the "Man and Woman of the Year" by the Long Islander newspapers in Huntington.

Stephanie Bontempi serves the 18th District - Lloyd Harbor, Huntington, Centerport and Northport - in the Suffolk Legislature. She was elected in 2021, with her victory flipping control of the County Legislature from Democrat to Republican control. She taught previously for 15 years as a teacher at the Green Vale School in Old Brookville.

Robert Bontempi serves as the Vice Chairman of the Town of Huntington Planning Board, and is the Co-Founder of the 1653 Foundation - a local charity to support parks and public spaces. Bob works as Senior Director for Mallincrodt Pharmaceuticals.

He was the Deputy Director of Operations for the Suffolk County Medical Examiner during the tragic Flight 800 crash, and served as a former President of the Huntington Chamber of Commerce.

"Stephanie and I believe in public service and making a difference for our community," said Robert Bontempi.
