Suffolk County Legislator Stephanie Bontempi (R-Centerport) has been elected the Chair of the County Legislature’s Environment, Parks & Agriculture Committee.
“It is an honor to be chosen to lead this committee,” stated Bontempi. “And to work on initiatives that protect our environment and preserve Suffolk County’s land and water for future generations.”
The Environment, Parks & Agriculture Committee is charged with maintaining air and water quality, preserving open space and farmland, and managing Suffolk County’s parks, golf courses, and cultural and historic sites.

“I look forward to collaborating with residents, farmers, advocates and environmental groups,” added Bontempi. “I want to thank Presiding Officer Anthony Piccirillo for passing the torch to me, and look forward to working with my colleagues to continue the important work of this body as responsible stewards of our lands.”
Bontempi’s election as Chair occurred after the former Chair – Anthony Piccirillo was elected earlier in January as Presiding Officer of the Legislature.
“Legislator Bontempi will do a stellar job leading the EPA Committee,” stated Presiding Officer Piccirillo. “Her leadership has consistently stood out, and she has been a strong advocate for both her district and the county.”Bontempi represents the 18th Legislative District, which includes Lloyd Harbor, Cold Spring Harbor, downtown Huntington, Centerport, and Northport in the Town of Huntington. She was first elected in 2021, and was re-elected in 2023 and 2025.
A number of county parks and historic sites - such as the Vanderbilt Museum and Coindre Hall – are located in her district.
