Local author and activist Bill Bleyer is holding a book launch event for the publication of his seventh book, "The Roosevelts in New York City.“

The book launch party will be held on Sunday, October 12th, at 1:00 PM, at the Life Enrichment Center at 45 East Main Street in Oyster Bay.

The event is free and is being co-sponsored by the Oyster Bay Historical Society and Theodore’s Books.
Â
The fundraiser is for the benefit of the Historical Society, with Theodore’s Books donating 10% of all book sale revenue to the society.

The event will feature a lecture by the author, Bill Bleyer followed by book sales and a signing. Refreshments will be served.

Bleyer was a staff writer for Newsday for 33 years specializing in history and maritime issues before retiring in 2014 to write books and freelance.Â

He is the author of "The Sinking of the Steamboat Lexington on Long Island Sound;" and "George Washington’s Long Island Spy Ring: A History and Tour Guide."
