Wells Fargo to Replace Derelict 110 Diner

By Niall Fitzgerald

The long-derelict Diner on Route 110 in Huntington is now scheduled to be demolished, with a new Wells Fargo bank to be built to replace it.

"Welcome to Huntington, Wells Fargo !" declared Gerry Asher, the Chair of the Huntington Zoning Board of Appeals, which approved the bank's application last week, for variances to build their new bank.

The plans submitted by Wells Fargo call for the Diner to be demolished, and a new 17,000 square foot bank building constructed on the .39 acre lot.

According to the attorneys for Wells Fargo, construction will begin "as soon as possible."

The bank will not have a "drive-through" facility, according to the plans.

The derelict diner - last operated as the Ocean Crest Diner - closed over 10 years ago, and has become a dilapidated eyesore on Route 110, across the street from the Walt Whitman shopping mall. The property is located at the intersection of Route 110 and Norwich Street.
