West Shore Road Closure

by Niall Fitzgerald

Starting on April 12th, parts of West Shore Road near Gold Star Beach and Coindre Hall will be closed for a shoreline stabilization project, announced the Town of Huntington. The area adjoins the border of the West Shore neighborhood of Huntington and the Village of Lloyd Harbor.

The construction work is expected to last about three weeks, and will close West Shore Road between Gold Star Battalion Beach and Landing Road. The construction is being supervised by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation

Alternative routes are Southdown Road and Browns Road to avoid the construction area.

We “will open the roadway for first responders and local law enforcement.” stated Huntington's Highway Superintendent. The Highway Department stated that it has also notified the Huntington School District, Huntington Coach (school bus company) the Suffolk County Police Department’s 2nd Precinct, the Huntington Fire Department and the Huntington Community First Aid Squad regarding the construction and road closure.
