Great Neck Village Official Locked-up in Iranian Jail
By Rupert Deedes In May 2025, Kamran Hekmati, a 70-year-old "Persian" Jewish-Iranian American citizen from Great Neck, traveled to Iran for what he believed would be a routine visit to see his family. He entered Iran using an Iranian passport, which is required by Iran under Iranian law for those who were born in Iran, regardless of whether they hold dual nationality. Then he was arrested in July 2025 in Tehran and charged with the crime of "making a trip to Israel"

Rare Revolutionary War Artifacts Display in Huntington
By Ishan Shah Huntington's Town Archivist recently hosted an exhibit of precious records and artifacts from the Revolutionary War, that was open to the public. The rich Revolutionary War history of Long Island's north shore was on display, with a "hands-on" archival experience. Precious documents on display included the Huntington Declaration of Rights (1774); the Oath of Allegiance to King George III; and a statue of Nathan Hale. The display was run every Tuesday las

Old Westbury Gardens Honors Legacy of Mary Phipps
By Maureen Daly Old Westbury Gardens hosted a sold-out inaugural luncheon honoring the legacy of Mary Phipps. Mary’s vision and leadership helped shape the Old Westbury Gardens into the community treasure and nature park that it is today. Old Westbury Gardens was the original home of the Phipps family - one of Old Westbury’s oldest and most notable families. John and Margarita Phipps built the Westbury House in the early 1900s, reserving almost half of the grounds to
Editorial: Newsday's Delgado Articles are Great Journalism - Reporter Deborah Morris is owed an Apology
This newspaper has been sometimes critical of the liberal political slant of Newsday, Long Island's last, locally-published, daily newspaper. But the harsh attacks by the Huntington and Suffolk GOP denouncing the journalism of reporter Deborah Morris' Newsday articles - regarding the running of a fake "put-up" candidate on the Working Families Party line for Huntington Supervisor - as "fake news" and "biased journalism" - are grossly misplaced. Morris did excellent, great
Op-Ed: Shutdown Highlighted "Obama Care" Failures
By Steve Levy Because of the recent government shutdown, many Americans found out that, indeed, Obamacare was not working. President Barack Obama sold it on the lie that you can keep your doctor and that it would lower average premiums by $2,500 a year. Instead, annual premiums increased from $13,000 to about $25,000. It was also exposed that Congress had given a one-time massive infusion of extra Obamacare subsidies during the pandemic. The Democrats themselves wrote in the

Endorsement - Lou Imbroto, Thomas Hand and Andrew Monteleone for Oyster Bay Town Board
The Republican teammates of Supervisor Joe Saladino are - each of them - outstanding public servants - with unique strengths and talents. Most importantly, Lou Imbroto, Tom Hand and Andrew Monteleone all work as a team with Joe Saladino - bringing in new and good ideas - and contributing to the public good. No political games, no sleazy backstabbing - just a mature approach by competent people to best serve the public. Joe Saladino could not have made Oyster Bay the "be

Endorsement - Joe Saladino for Oyster Bay Supervisor
Joe Saladino runs the "best-run town on Long Island," according to nearly all municipal analysts. Saladino took office eight years ago after a series of scandals and a crash in municipal finances. Saladino took charge - firing corrupt and incompetent officials - and assembling the best talent and team on Long Island. After eight years - it shows: Taxes are down; bond ratings are up - way up; Parks, ballfields, skating rinks are all clean and safe; Beaches are clean, g
Jennifer Gallub-Pravato for Nassau Legislature (District 16)
Jennifer Gallub-Pravato has been waging a strong campaign to unseat longtime incumbent Arnold Drucker for the Syosset-Plainview district. Drucker has been described as "tired" and "lazy" by many in his own Democratic party. "He just doesn't work that hard," stated one Democrat. Jennifer Gallub-Pravato is strongly supporting County Executive Bruce Blakeman, is the wife of Oyster Bay Receiver of Taxes Jeff Pravato, who is working tirelessly for her. It's time for a change.

Delia DeRiggi-Whitton for Nassau Legislature (District 11)
Delia DeRiggi-Whitton has been Democratic Minority Leader of the Nassau Legislature, serving as the "loyal opposition," while keeping her often-fractious Democratic coalition together. It was not always easy, but DeRiggi-Whitton has been an effective Legislator and leader - often working with Republicans on common projects, while still delivering for her own Glen Cove-Port Washington district. The Leader endorses Delia DeRiggi-Whitton for Nassau Legislature.
